As a rule of thumb when it comes to televisions, the larger the screen, the more you pay. Hisense disrupts this rule a little with some big screen TVs that offer a surprising amount of bang for their relatively small buck. This Black Friday, the pick is the Hisense U7QFT: a 65in 4K TV that started life at a somewhat optimistic £1,499, but has now swung dramatically the other way, and is available at a bargain £699 at Currys , AO.com and John Lewis .
Other than the obvious point that you’re getting a lot of screen for your money, the U7QFT has an awful lot going for it. The QLED panel has a layer of quantum dots which react to light and boost brightness to higher levels than you’d normally expect from your average LED LCD TV. The panel also has FALD (full-array local dimming) backlighting, which means that it has more accurate backlighting and higher contrast levels than edge-lit models around this price. On top of that, it supports Dolby Atmos audio, and offers universal HDR compatibility, with HDR10, HLG, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision all available depending on which your media favours. Speaking of media, the built-in catch up and streaming apps are a pretty solid selection: BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, All 4, My5, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and YouTube. No Disney Plus or Apple TV, but nothing the right streaming stick won’t fix when attached to one of the Hisense’s four HDMI ports. While £1,499 was always optimistic, it has recently hovered around the £1,000 mark, which felt a lot more reasonable. At £699, it’s an absolute steal for that much screen space, so you should seriously consider making it the focal point of your living room this Christmas.
